Tankan (Stroke) is a lounge chair that expresses the idea of dualism. The stroke of the chair’s curve, reminds of the curvaceous lines of old, heavy iron outdoor furniture in India. It is bold, creating a strong presence; but this time for the interiors. The iron structure is hammered into shape by a local blacksmith - after which the hammer strokes on the structure gives a feeling of austerity. On the contrary, the soft leather with hand stitched seams clads the chair’s seat in perfection - creating a feeling of warmth and comfort. A simple yet bold form that conjugates rudimentary and chic; evoking a sensory experience through tactility.
