Riya Panwar is a visual artist and communicator based between India and London, specializing in alternative photography. Her work explores the chemistry of photographic materials and embraces imperfection, with a focus on reducing toxic methods while experimenting with new mediums for visual storytelling. She earned her MA in Visual Communication from the Royal College of Art, where she investigates the relationship between visuals and words, creating narratives that integrate graphics, text, and experimental photography.

With a degree in Fashion Communication from Pune's Symbiosis Institute of Design, Riya has also worked as a communication manager and creative strategist in Mumbai and Pune, roles that expanded her leadership and communication expertise. Her practice merges the structured approach of design with the fluidity of art, emphasizing sustainability and accessibility.

Riya’s work has been featured in Vogue India and homegrown.in, and exhibited internationally at Tokyo's Shibuya MODI building and London’s Four Corners through the London Alternative Photography Collective. She views constant creation as a path to discovery, using the process of making as a form of research.Â
